The Families

One of the reasons "A Life Interrupted" has so much impact on the local community results from the families involved in the program. The families have supported the Bakersfield Police Department by sharing their personal stories and pictures, and allowing their childrens' accidents to be shared with other teenagers. The Parent Presenters:

 

Tina Antak

Tina AntakTina tells the audience the story about her son Jeffrey Shep. "He thought he was invidincible, I as a parent thought he was invincible" she states. Jeffrey was a sixteen year old passenger of a solo accident. Jeff was just out with his friends having fun on the summer evening of June 30, 2002. The accident took place on Stine Road just North of Houghton Road. Jeffrey was one of four occupants in the vehicle when it overturned, none of the four occupants were wearing seat belts.

 

 

 

Nancy ChaffinNancy Chaffin

Nancy's tells the story about her son Jeff Chaffin. Jeff was a passenger in a vehicle that was driving at a high speed one foggy morning on November 18, 2002. The accident happened at 2:00 am at 7th Standard and Zerker Road. The accident had four fatalities, with one of them being Jeff. The driver of the vehicle lived and is currently serving a 15 year to life sentence for second degree murder.
